Testimonies of Healing

[Translated from the German]

I feel impelled to give thanks to God, to infinite Love,...

From the March 1911 issue of The Christian Science Journal

I feel, impelled to give thanks to God. to infinite Love, whose goodness I have experienced in having been led into the way of truth — the way which leads to peace and health. About four years ago I was taken ill, and had very severe pain. The physician stated that I had gall-stones, and after being under medical advice for four years I was told that the disease could be cured only by an operation. My constant prayers to a God who was believed to have imposed this disease upon me remained unanswered, and rather caused me to become afraid as time went on.

Man's extremity, however, is God's opportunity, and this proved to be true in my case. Loving friends voiced the saving words, "Be not afraid, only believe," and pointed me to Christian Science, a kindness for which I shall ever remain grateful. We applied to a Christian Science practitioner, through whose treatment and kindly explanations I learned to know God as Love only, who never afflicts His children, and who can impart but love. This understanding brought about a complete change in me, so that I am now a well woman, physically and mentally. My heart is filled with gratitude for the wonderful truth contained in this glorious teaching, and with the apostle I would say, "Thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ."
