Words seem totally inadequate to express what the healing power of Christian Science is to me. It means spiritual and physical regeneration, for Truth has made me whole. My heart is a well-spring of joy for renewed health and daily strength to perform the mother's tasks which were formerly relegated largely to others. For fourteen years I never knew a day's freedom from pain or a good night's sleep, and I was consequently very irritable. I had suffered many things at the hands of many physicians in different states; had been operated upon, but this only added sleeplessness to my other troubles, which were finally pronounced incurable..
About five years ago I became much worse. I was then undergoing drastic treatment without any relief, and a serious operation was urged upon me; but we dreaded the result. About this time the Master's words came to me very forcibly, "If ye abide in me and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you." I had always clung to this as a belief, but my prayers failed to prove it true. I now see that this little verse was to lead me into the truth, for I said to my husband that I wished to try Christian Science, and this I did with great expectation and good hope. The practitioner met me with a most loving thought, and I learned my first great lesson in Science,—that God is All-in-all, and "there is none else beside him.," The ills of the years fled before the scientific understanding of this statement, and I was instantaneously healed.
It is impossible for me to express the fulness of joy, the perfect peace, and the daily uplifting which Christian Science has brought into my life. Truth is our only physician, and our text-book has made the Bible a vital living power in our home, teaching us that God's word is in reality the "living water" and that it does cleanse from all sin and heals all our diseases.—Oak Park, Ill.
