It is from a heart overflowing with gratitude to God that I give my testimony to the power of Truth. Two years and seven months ago Christian Science found me very miserable in every way, both physically and mentally, for I had had a stomach disorder and other organic troubles for years which had baffled the skill of materia medica, and the doctors had told me that if I lived to be over the age of forty the disease would become malignant. The suffering was hard to bear; indeed, I had to submit to the use of opiates, the dose being gradually increased until I was taking a large quantity. I lived in this way for many years, but finally left the drug for a time, only to take up stimulants and another drug. No one except those who have been addicted to the use of these things can know the misery I was in, but I am happy to say that at this date I am not only healed from the use of drugs, but am also physically and mentally healed through the understanding of divine Truth as given in Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy.
Except for the help of a practitioner for one month, and that of a brother-in-law, my healing was mainly due to the study of the Bible Lessons. I owe my life to Christian Science, and I am daily striving to let my light so shine that all with whom I come in contact may see the power of Truth. I thank God that He gave to the world a woman who was good and true enough to bring this message of Truth to us, so that we can prove for ourselves the all-power of our heavenly Father. I am indeed grateful that I am able, in some degree, to demonstrate the understanding I have, both for myself and others. The Master has shown us the way from darkness to light, and today it is revealed anew. The Sentinel is a comfort to me, and also our other Christian Science literature.— Milwaukee, Wis.
