Last winter our seven-year-old daughter was taken with pain in all her limbs, which increased in severity with every hour, all the joints being very much swollen. It became necessary for us to carry her, though this caused her great distress. I applied to a physician, who at once diagnosed the case as rheumatism of the joints, and informed us that this was a serious as well as a lingering trouble, and that after the little girl had somewhat recuperated we should send her to a watering-place for a cure, as she was liable to be afflicted again. He also prescribed medicines, which, however, we did not use.
After the physician had left, I immediately wrote to a Christian Science practitioner whose successful assistance along Christian Science lines we had experienced in previous cases of illness. She at once took up absent treatment, with the result that the third day the child's condition was very much improved, so that she asked for nourishment, and on the sixth day she begged me to assist her in getting up. She was able to stand erect on her limbs, and the daily improvement was followed by complete recovery in two weeks' time. The child began running about, and when the physician called again, in order to see how she was getting on, he was surprised to find her so well, and said that he had not believed the little girl would recuperate in so short a time. We are most sincerely thankful to God for the great blessing which we have experienced in this instance of quick healing of our child, and for all the glorious proofs of the power of divine Love which we have received through Christian Science.— Jeversen, Hannover, Germany.
