I did not come to Christian Science for physical healing, but as a result of the conviction that it is the truth revealed to the world through the spiritual insight of our Leader. I have never wavered for a moment in my profound gratitude for what it has done and is doing for myself and all mankind. I send this testimony because I wish to express my deep gratitude to Mrs. Eddy, the Founder of Christian Science. All my life I had longed to know the truth. I always attended the services of my church, worked among the poor, and studied the Bible, but I wanted to find something by which I could know more of spiritual reality. I used to think it would come to me in a vision, but it never came. I then looked into Oriental religions, but these were of no help to me.
Christian Science came to me through the wonderful healing of a sister of a disease pronounced incurable by the doctors. I bought a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," and after reading the first chapter there came to me an overwhelming sense that this was the truth. Then all the small ailments for which I had taken material remedies were swept away, I never knew when or how. I had, and still have, much to overcome, but I know that as I am faithful all that is unlike God, good, will be destroyed. How can I ever be grateful enough to those who helped me to gain this understanding!
The realization of the vision which I always hoped I would have, has come in the demonstration of the divine power, by which we help ourselves and others to throw off the cords that bind us. Christ Jesus truly said, "Your joy no man taketh from you."— Seaford, England.
