WE are most deeply grateful for the many proofs of the power of divine Love which we are daily receiving through Christian Science, and for the clearer concept of God, omnipotent good, which these teachings bring us. Our endeavor is to express gratitude therefor through right thinking and acting.
A few weeks ago I experienced God's protecting and healing presence in a wonderful way, and I herewith wish to make public acknowledgment thereof. I fell out of the window of my lodging, situated on the first floor, and struck with my face against a flower-box which was standing outside. At first I was unable to move; it seemed as if my whole body was injured, and I was stunned by the pain. Then the thought came that God was my life, and therefore I need not fear anything. After I had lain on the ground for several minutes, I succeeded in getting up, and went to wash the wounds on my face. I then lay down for a while, meditating on God, who is ever present and always protects His children, and in whom there is no accident and consequently no injury. When I got up, the pain had almost disappeared, and I was able to resume my work.
There were strangers with us at that time who knew nothing of Christian Science, and who, when they saw me, thought it unjustifiable that I did not send for a physician or use any material remedy, but simply bandaged my face. My thought seemed to be affected by this mental environment, and that fear entered my consciousness, for my face became swollen and a large blister formed under one eye. My children did their best to assist me, but as there did not seem to be much improvement on the third day, I asked for treatment, which was immediately taken up, and after three days I was completely restored. The swelling disappeared, the healing of the wounds was without pain, and the skin underneath became as soft and rosy as a child's. Never before had I known of such a wonderful healing of wounds as in this case through Christian Science treatment.
