I am glad that I have an opportunity to express my gratitude for the many healings that have been wrought in my family since I took up the study of Christian Science. During the winter of 1911-12 my husband became very ill, and according to the symptoms, materiel medica would have called it a severe illness. Although he was not a Scientist, he had seen the work done in our family, and so decided to call a practitioner.
While under treatment he apparently kept getting worse, and half of his body seemed to be paralyzed. In fact, one hand was clenched so that he could not open it, and he could not move one foot and leg at all. Along with this, fainting spells and more severe headaches came on, while catarrh troubled him all the time. I am thankful that we had a faithful practitioner, for it was discovered after two weeks that my husband was continually in doubt; at one time he would ask me to call a doctor and at another time he wanted Christian Science. He really did not know what he wanted; but the practitioner and I held on to the truth until he felt that he need not be in doubt any more. In two weeks he was perfectly healed.
A few months later, while working in his store, he injured his ankle badly, and the expressman had to bring him home. As soon as he arrived, chills overcame him, and his foot became badly swollen and very painful. He was no longer in doubt, however, for it had been proven to him what Christian Science could do, so he called the practitioner. The work was wonderful this time. In a few hours after treatment was begun he was able to be around, and in the morning he went to work perfectly healed.
