Testimonies of Healing

It has long been my desire to express...

From the September 1914 issue of The Christian Science Journal

It has long been my desire to express gratitude through our periodicals for all that Christian Science has done for me and mine. There is one demonstration which I would especially like to mention, and for which I am very grateful.

On June 14, 1907, after I had studied Science about one year, my little boy, nine years of age, was playing ball, when one of his playmates threw the ball on the roof of the three-story apartment building in which we were living. My son went up for the ball, and in returning he ran off the roof, falling to the asphalt pavement in the court below. When I went to him, immediately upon hearing of the accident, the words of the psalmist came to me: "The Lord is. my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?" When I saw my boy I thought lie was dead, but I called him by name, and he answered. This gave me renewed courage, and I treated him to the best of my understanding.

On account of relatives who were not Christian Scientists, it was thought wise to call in a physician, and upon examination he found a fractured hipbone, an injured kneecap, and, as he thought, internal injuries. He left opiates to use in case the pain was too severe, also directions to use an ice-bag on the boy's head for fever, which he expected would come up during the night. After he had gone,. I asked my husband if I might telegraph to a Christian Science practitioner who was out of the city for a. few days, and he consented.
