Testimonies of Healing

Surely I have abundant reason to...

From the March 1916 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Surely I have abundant reason to be grateful for Christian Science, not only for the many healings it has accomplished for me, but for the way in which a faithful study of the Christian Science text-book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, has corrected my thinking in all directions. I was first healed physically when I was ten years old, although I had been pronounced a hopeless cripple. Some form of rheumatism had kept me in bed for three months and drawn the lower right limb badly out of shape. When the doctors could do no more for me, we tried Christian Science, and with about three weeks' treatment, most of which was absent, the limb was straightened and I was absolutely healed. Since that time Christian Science has healed me of various ailments, among them peritonitis, severe colds and coughs, and an abscess in my head.

Three years ago, while living in Detroit, I was healed of a complication of diseases, including a most aggravated form of heart trouble, anemia, a general nervous breakdown, and an abnormal growth in the bowels. In this instance a doctor who examined me at my husband's request told me that unless I was operated on he could hold out no hope of my recovery. The next day, when I told the Christian Science practitioner of the doctor's verdict, she quoted to me the twelfth verse from the fourth chapter of Hebrews. She also wisely and lovingly lifted my thought from my earthly parents, who had both passed on from a similar disease, to the one true parent, our Father-Mother God. I began to improve from that hour, and in four weeks was a well woman.

Today I am enjoying good health, and more peace, love, and harmony in my home than ever before. Christian Science has brought all of these blessings into my life, and I am deeply grateful. I have come to love Christian Science, not only for what it has done for me but for what it is. I am prayerfully endeavoring to become more worthy to be called a Christian Scientist, and I desire to give freely, as I have freely received, of this blessed truth.—
