I know that Christian Science heals morally, physically, and mentally by the power of divine ever presence. Three years ago, when in a hospital, I asked a practitioner if one could be healed in Christian Science who did not believe in it, and she answered by turning to the opening sentence of the Preface of that glorious book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, "To those leaning on the sustaining infinite, today is big with blessings." Since then I have been shown the way to find it true that God "sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their de-structions."
When I learned how Mrs. Eddy could prove that "it is a sense of sin, and not a sinful soul, which is lost" (Science and Health, p. 311), I knew I had found the "pearl of great price." Rheumatism, train sickness, and desire for medicines of all kinds have been overcome. Until I learned of God as the only power, and an ever present help in trouble, I had a remedy for almost every ill that flesh is heir to; but now I am free, and hope not to be "entangled again with the yoke of bondage." I have been saved from injury in accidents. Once I fell and hit one eye on a corner of the table, but there was not even any discoloration. When thrown out of a buggy I suffered no pain, but instead was filled with gratitude for divine protection.
For more than ten years a copy of Science and Health remained untouched in a bookcase. I had only read it a little, and thought I could not understand it, but upon turning to it in need I found it taught the truth that makes us free. When .1 suffered from sleeplessness, comfort would come in repeating the Lord's Prayer with its spiritual interpretation, as given on page 16 of the textbook, and at last I would rest. I am grateful that our Father revealed to Mrs. Eddy the way to give mankind a clearer understanding of God as Life, Truth, and Love.—Hampton, Va.
