In November, 1911, I became interested in Christian Science through the healing of my little boy. The doctor and the specialist had arranged to operate on him for nasal growths, but my sister wrote to me that if I would consent to have Christian Science treatment there was no need of the operation. My husband and I at once reached out to Christian Science for help, and the child was healed.
After reading Science and Health only a short time, I was healed of heart trouble, a bowel disorder, and a skin disease for which every material remedy had been tried, but to no avail. We were slow in grasping the truth, and during the winter we groped about in the dark, attending our own church and keeping up with society. Then our little son, aged three years, was stricken with fever. A Christian Science practitioner came to our home, and after the first treatment the boy ate some supper, although he had not eaten anything for four days. This was on a Saturday, and by Sunday evening he was playing about as usual. Then we woke up to God's healing power, and I am thankful for many other manifestations of the power of Truth; among them, the overcoming of measles and whooping-cough.
Words cannot express my gratitude for the great benefit I have received from the study of Christian Science, and above all for the spiritual uplift. Science and Health has helped me largely to understand the spiritual sense of the Bible. I thank God for the Discoverer of Christian Science, and my entire object is to be a channel for good, so as to help others.
