At the age of fourteen I became ill with heart trouble. The family doctor and a specialist attended me and informed my parents that I would never be fit to attend college again, and worst of all I was never to lift anything heavier than a pen. Such a gloomy prospect for the future depressed both of my parents terribly; on the other hand, I, being so young, did not make much of it. About twelve months later the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, was given to us, and its teachings proved to be what my mother had always longed for. After studying it for a fortnight she explained the allness of God to me, with the result that I was instantly healed. That wits five years ago and I now fully realize from what Christian Science has rescued me.
My gratitude for the spiritual comfort, the knowledge that God is ever with us, and my gratitude to Mrs. Eddy for her marvelous courage in overcoming the false evidence of the human senses, passes all bounds. I realize that in Science words alone are useless. My desire is to prove my gratitude by my works, and I thank God daily for the opportunity.—
