Gratitude for the many blessings I have received from God through the study of Christian Science prompts me to send a testimony of healing for publication.
Several years ago I became troubled with a growth in my right breast, which grew more and more painful as time passed by, until finally to my dismay I found one of like nature forming in the left breast also. Becoming alarmed, my husband decided I must see a doctor, which I did. The trouble was pronounced serious and an Immediate operation advised. We waited a short time, however, and then consulted a specialist, who said the growths were malignant and also advised an immediate operation, which was promptly performed. After six painful weeks in a hospital I was dismissed as cured; but just one year later the trouble again manifested itself and I returned to the hospital for a second operation. Though the doctor was conscientious and kind, his work proved of no avail; for six months later it became evident that there was more to be removed, and he advised me to return and submit to a third and more extensive operation. This I refused to do, for I felt there was no use in going through all that misery again, as the doctor had said the growth was without doubt malignant, and I knew it was considered incurable.
For a short time I felt almost hopeless, but I had heard of Christian Science and wanted to try it. My husband was willing and wished me to go to a town some distance from our home to have treatment, but this I did not do as my two little daughters needed me at home. I wrote to a practitioner, however, and asked for help, which was lovingly given, with the result that after eleven treatments I was healed. I then began the study of Science and Health, and the understanding I have thus gained has brought great peace and enabled me on several occasions to help others. I have never seen the practitioner, and have had only one opportunity to attend Christian Science services. That was a year ago in Grants Pass, Oregon, where I attended one Wednesday evening meeting and two Sunday services. My little daughters study the Lesson-Sermons with me, and turn naturally to Truth for help in all things.
