Christian Science came to me as a great light shining into the darkness. My only motive for taking up the study of it was to see if it would give me a clearer understanding of God, and it did; for it opened up the Bible as a great storehouse, and showed me the law of Love as able to dispel all human woe.
One of my first demonstrations was made when a heavy folding bed tumbled over, striking me on the head and knocking me senseless. Realizing that God's beloved child could not be hurt, I arose and finished my work, and there was not a mark to bear witness to the accident. Before turning to Christian Science I had for years considered myself an invalid, had undergone two operations, and was constantly taking medicine and holding to a strict diet; but I forsook all material reliances, and from a life of inaction became a healthy and robust woman. When my dear husband was taken from me by the "last enemy," and my son was across the water fighting for divine Principle, ever present Life, Truth, and Love encompassed me, and the tender words of the Comforter upheld me.
My constant prayer is that I may so live, so reflect the Mind that was in Christ Jesus, that others will see and be helped thereby, even as I have been blessed and sustained. Our periodicals are a great help and inspiration to me, while the Lesson-Sermon is daily manna. Only a life consecrated to Truth can bear witness to my gratitude for Christian Science.— Thoesby, Ala.
