For over three years I have enjoyed the wonderful help of Christian Science. From childhood I had felt a great lack of something in my life, but could not understand what it was and never hoped to have the need supplied in the present world. I was often melancholy, and conditions became worse as I grew older. In the summer of 1915 I arrived at what might be called the crisis. For weeks I had not slept, and every moment was filled with inexpressible mental suffering. I believed I was losing my mind, so tried to let no one even suspect my condition. It seemed to me that there was but one way out of my suffering and that was through death. My uppermost thought was to take my life, and I attempted to do so, but was unsuccessful. After this attempt a physician was called, but he could do nothing to relieve me of the mental distress.
Finally I was led to Christian Science, and in my first conversation with a Scientist I was convinced that this teaching was exactly what I needed and wanted. After three treatments by a practitioner I was practically healed, and since then I have had many other proofs of the healing efficacy of this new-old religion. I have been able to discard glasses, after wearing them continually for about six years. I shall never cease to be grateful for Christian Science, also to our Leader, Mrs. Eddy, and to all who have helped me.— Franklin, Ind.
