I first attended a Christian Science service in August, 1912. After several years' invalidism I had been gradually turning to God, convinced that "it is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing." The testimonies heard at this Wednesday evening meeting convinced me that I had found the truth and my delight knew no bounds. Then followed months of earnest study of the Bible and Science and Health under the guidance of a practitioner, who also gave occasional treatments as needed. By April I had gained considerably in weight and my appearance of robust health has ever since been a matter of comment among those who knew me as a frail, sickly boy.
In the years that have followed I have had many beautiful proofs of the efficacy of Christian Science and have been able in emergencies to extend help to others. I have found much happiness in the study of the Lesson-Sermon and other authorized literature, also in serving upon the various committees of a branch church. Class instruction, the counsel of a wise and patient teacher, and the annual association meeting have supplied much inspiration and practical help. Gratitude to our Leader and to all who have helped me can best be expressed in loving service.— Flushing, Long Island, N. Y.
