Some eight years ago I turned to Christian Science for help. Up to that time I had been ailing for a number of years with stomach and bowel trouble. I tried medical doctors and their prescriptions, and other kinds of treatment, as well as a change of climate and dieting. For over two months I lived on milk alone. None of these things helped me; in fact, I kept getting worse until I was so run down in health and strength that for over a year I was unable to work. Finally I was led to see some people that I had not seen for a number of years, and was told that a member of the family had been completely healed by Christian Science of ailments similar to those from which I was suffering.
Christian Science was something entirely new to me. I had heard the name mentioned once or twice years before, but did not know what it was and had never given it any thought; however, it did not take me long to make up my mind to try it. A practitioner was found in a neighboring city, and treatment was taken up. I was advised to get a copy of the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, and begin the study of it and of the regular weekly Lesson-Sermon. In three days my condition commenced to improve, and at the end of two weeks' treatment I felt so well that I told the practitioner I did not need any more help. The study was continued, and in three months I had gained in weight and was back to normal health and strength. The healing was complete.
I am very grateful to Mrs. Eddy for her writings, a study of which in connection with the Bible enables one to gain the true meaning of the Scriptures. I am also grateful for the Christian Science periodicals and for the literature printed in foreign languages, which enables people of other nationalities to learn of Christian Science; in fact, I am grateful for all the activities of this great movement, for through these will come the salvation of all nations.—Bremerton, Wash.
