When Christian Science first came to me I was in a wilderness of the darkest kind, and a harvester of tares. After reading the testimonies in the Journal and the Sentinel that my daughter had found in a railroad coach, I remarked to my wife, "This is my last chance, for I have taken enough medicine to float a ship, without any help;" so we started to find out where we could procure a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" and were led to the Christian Science Society of Wallace, Idaho, where my wife procured a copy of this book.
For a week or more I read Science and Health, and then, being convinced that there was something in its teachings, I went to a practitioner. Some of the diseases responded quickly to treatment and others more slowly. I have been healed of the tobacco habit of twenty-five years' standing, the liquor habit, and profanity, the last being overcome in three days. Three days after breaking a finger I was able to use it, through absolute reliance on Truth. Heart disease, kidney trouble, and rheumatism have also been overcome, and I have found that God supplies all our needs. I have had many other blessings, and we as a family are indeed thankful to God and grateful to Mrs. Eddy for unveiling the truth. I am most grateful for having all the Christian Science periodicals and all of our Leader's writings, as I find that through the study of them the path is growing easier and brighter.
