For the many beautiful proofs I...

From the May 1921 issue of The Christian Science Journal

For the many beautiful proofs I have had of the power of Truth since coming into some understanding of Christian Science I am truly grateful. Although having been interested some fifteen years, it has only been during the past five years that I have been able to demonstrate anything for myself. I had always called upon a practitioner, or some member of the family to do my work for me. It is needless to say that the condition was always met but it seemed I was not making the progress I should, so one day while attending a lecture during which the speaker brought out very clearly that ' some, day sooner or later every one must work out his own salvation," the thought came to me, "That m ans me," so I earnestly tried to put into practice what little I knew of the truth, and it was but a short time after this that I had ample opportunity to prove what I really knew.

The first thing that was very beautifully overcome was rheumatism in my neck and shoulders. I was n it able to move without the assistance of some one, on account of the severe pain, but I continued to work faithfully and in one week's time the condition was overcome, and I have not had a return of it. At another time, I accidentally ran the prong of a fork through my finger. The Lesson-Sermon for that week was on "Love," and the first thought that came to me was, "Perfect love casteth out fear." Realizing this beautiful truth, I did not experience any pain, and there was not any swelling or inflammation. The two scars where the fork had pierced the finger disappeared the next day.

Two years ago, during the epidemic of influenza. I was taken ill suddenly, and according to human belief very seriously. I was in this condition for ten days, under the care of a practitioner. I had not eaten anything for live days and had reached the stage where I was seemingly passing away, when these words came to me: "Arise, and walk." I voiced this aloud and jumped up. My husband helped me walk through the room several times, as I seemed to be very cold. I was finally able to collect my thoughts and realized what had taken place; I was healed. I gained strength very rapidly and in a few days was about my household duties. My husband was also healed of this same belief within a very short time, and with no ill effect. We have had many other proofs, physical and financial, and we are truly grateful for the knowledge we have of Christian Science.—
