Testimonies of Healing

I wish to express my gratitude for...

From the May 1921 issue of The Christian Science Journal

I wish to express my gratitude for the healing truth of Christian Science. My first visit to a Christian Science church was from curiosity and I did not go again until four years later, when a friend invited me to go with her, and I was so impressed that I have been attending ever since. This was ten years ago. I soon procured a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy and read it through, and knew that I had found the truth: it was so logical, and made clear so many things in the Bible that had puzzled me.

Christian Science has taught me how to seek the kingdom of God and I have in a degree realized this kingdom. Through the study and application of this truth I have been enabled to see that the mortal or carnal mind must be put off. In the words of Paul. "Seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds; and have put on the new man." so the working out o! my own salvation began about ten years ago and in the degree that I am able to overcome self, or the carnal mind, I am realizing that "the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus" is making me free from the law of sin and death. Mrs. Eddy says on page 242 of Science and Health, "Self-love is more opaque than a solid body." Realizing that this statement applied to my case I went to work to unself love, and to express more love for God and my fellow man, and my daily prayer is that I may love God, good, more than all else, and through the law of God which our dear Leader has made so plain to us be enabled to help not only myself but others. Christian Science takes no good thing from us and regeneration begins right where the truth finds us.

In my own family I have seen pneumonia, blood poisoning, smallpox, and many minor ailments overcome through the understanding of Christian Science, for which I am grateful, but more so for the healing of sin.—the overcoming of fear, resentment hate, envy, and jealousy. Christian Science is the greatest discovery of the age and as Clara Barton, the founder of the Red Cross movement, has said: "Mrs. Eddy should have the respect, admiration, and love of the whole nation, for she is its greatest woman."—
