I have been interested in Christian Science for more than twenty years. Prior to that time I had been very ill, suffering from sciatic rheumatism, and was almost completely crippled with it. After two or three treatments from a Christian Science practitioner I was healed and the healing has been permanent. I was also freed from a chronic stomach trouble. Several years later my young son in climbing a telegraph pole, touched a live wire, and fell to the cement walk, some distance below. He was brought into the house in an unconscious condition; a practitioner was called immediately and after regaining consciousness the child repeated some scientific statements with the practitioner and then went to sleep. The next morning he attended school as usual, and was perfectly well. His hand bore the marks of five burns, showing what the truth, as taught in Christian Science, had delivered him from.
The succeeding years were filled with numerous demonstrations of healing, and finally, at the outbreak of the war, three of my sons enlisted, and were later sent to France in the same regiment. Before leaving America however, one of them was encamped at Fort Houston, Texas, and was very ill with double pneumonia, and there were doubts concerning his recovery. Through treatment received in Christian' Science, I am grateful to state that he did recover, and later was able to go overseas with his brothers, and to be constantly at the front in the thick of the fighting. For months it meant unceasing prayer, the prayer of Christian Science, and the knowing that God is man's Life. After the armistice was signed, my three sons returned to me in perfect condition; and while my gratitude for their safe return knew no bounds, my gratitude for the comfort and help afforded by the teachings and demonstration of Christian Science was proportionate.
The Christian Science periodicals, which Mrs. Eddy was inspired of God to give to the world to meet humanity's need, have been most helpful to me at all times, and are some of the blessings which have come to me through the ministry of Christian Science, for which I sincerely thank God the source of all good; I am also grateful to the Discoverer and Founder of this healing truth, Mary Baker Eddy.— Chicago, Illinois.
