The following is a brief expression of gratitude for what Christian Science has done for me and for other members of my family. A great many years ago my mother was healed, in one treatment, of severe stomach trouble, and has never had a return of it. It was my privilege to attend the Christian Science Sunday school exclusively, and as a child I was able to overcome many difficulties. One experience, during my high school days, always stands out as an especially beautiful one. I was walking on an icy brick sidewalk, and slipped and fell, injuring the left wrist. I thought at first the arm was broken, but that thought did not disturb me so much as the question of what doctor I should go to, if I had to have the bone set for I did not know a physician in the city. Immediately I went to my Sunday school teacher and told her what had happened. She asked me to stop crying, and gave me a treatment. During the treatment, the wrist, which was not broken but merely twisted out of place, turned back into its proper place, the swelling went down immediately, and the pain ceased. The healing was complete. I lost not a moment from school nor an hour's piano practice.
Later, hay fever and asthma appeared. The condition was ignored and neglected for some years, and as I was anxious to go west this gave me an excuse to go to a climate where I thought I should not be troubled with these difficulties, but at the same time I knew it would sooner or later have to be overcome in Science. Each time that I returned to the lower altitudes the asthma would return, and at one time it seemed as though I should pass on. I then awakened to the fact that I had suffered enough, and called for the help of a practitioner. I shall always remember with gratitude the kind rebuke which I received when I made the statement that "my old trouble" had returned. I was told that it was not my old claim, that it did not belong to me. The burden was instantly lifted. In a week's time I was perfectly free, and have never had any return of the trouble, although I have visited in low altitudes and in all kinds of weather. Since then I have had the privilege of class instruction, and have been able to help others as well as myself. I surely have much to be thankful for, through the right application of God's laws, as demonstrated 111 Christian Science. I am deeply grateful to our revered Leader, Mrs. Eddy, who revealed the truth to this age and to all others who are working in God's cause.— Cody, Wyoming.
