When I first heard of Christian Science the reading of the testimonies published in Le Héraut immediately awakened my interest. I procured Mrs. Eddy's book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," but even after one year's effort I could not bring myself to admit the truth of this wonderful teaching, so filled was I with materialistic beliefs. I had practically given up this study, when I became seriously ill, suffering from a trouble known as pneumothorax, complicated by lesions of the lungs. My condition was growing worse despite all the medicine taken and all medical care, and other complications set in, including urea and enteritis, the latter being an old trouble.
Growing weaker and weaker I reached the point where I could no longer take any food or drink, and was in a constant high fever. My case was hopeless, given up by the doctors. Although resigning myself to die, I wrote to a practitioner for help, and she gave me absent treatment. Within a few days I was up, to the astonishment of doctors, nurses, and all those who had seen me and thought me lost. This was a wonderful demonstration of the infinite power of God, to whom I give heartfelt thanks. I am also grateful to our revered Leader, Mrs. Eddy, and to the Christian Scientists who have helped me.—Nice, France.
