Hoping that it may help some one as I have been helped I send this testimony. I have been healed of many forms of fear through the understanding of God as taught in Christian Science. The fear of tuberculosis was overcome when it seemed very real. I had had several hemorrhages, one very severe one, and I scarcely had strength to do any work. Most of my nights were spent coughing. It seemed impossible to sing because I was so short of breath; now every hymn is a song of gratitude and I am as well and strong as I ever was. The great dread that I would not be able to provide for my family has been relieved as I understand our real supply and its source. Every problem, in business or at home, is simplified so much when we know there is a solution if we know the truth about it, instead of going on in the old helpless, hopeless way.
When we were quite new in Christian Science our little girl became very ill. Her legs were swollen and badly discolored, and she would scream with fear when she thought we were going to touch her. It was at the time when the fear of infantile paralysis was prevalent and the neighbors who saw her thought it was that. In our ignorance and fear we got a practitioner to come to the house. After he had been there a short while the little girl got up of her own accord and walked about and did not lie down because of pain again. It was a miracle to us then and a source of gratitude to us now.
While I was getting off a street car an automobile hit me, carried me about twenty yards, and ran over my leg. I was badly bruised and shaken up but was able to overcome the desire to make something of it and continued with my work. The most wonderful part of the experience was that the only thought I had was one of protection; it was the reward for my study of Christian Science that I was instantly able to think rightly. I used to worship tobacco and liked to drink intoxicants but I have lost these desires since coming into Christian Science. We have been helped in every way and are very thankful to God and grateful to Mrs. Eddy for making the way so plain for us, and for our church, our Sunday school, reading rooms, books, and literature. I hope to be able to show my gratitude by my living.—Cleveland, Ohio.
