Testimonies of Healing

I wish to express my gratitude for...

From the July 1922 issue of The Christian Science Journal

I wish to express my gratitude for Christian Science. Thirteen years ago, I first turned to it for help. At that time I was suffering from St. Vitus' dance. Under the doctor's care all summer I had gradually grown worse; but in live weeks under Christian Science treatment I was perfectly healed. This disease had presented itself several times before, and each time yielded very slowly under medical attention. The year after my first healing in Christian Science it came again. It was very quickly met, and has never returned.

At the time of my first visit to the loving practitioner, she explained what God is, and what man is; and the love and freedom of which she told me was very new to me, for I had been taught to believe in a different God,—a mistaken concept of Him. When I realized that God is my life and my support, and when it was clearly explained that man's heritage is freedom and joy and dominion, I went home; and, after gaining my parents' permission, took off a heavy abdominal support that I had been obliged to wear night and day for six years, following a so-called serious operation for appendicitis. I have reason to be grateful for the awakened thought of my parents, who were grasping the first truths of Christian Science, in that they were ready to loose me and let me go, feeling that God would take care of me. I have never felt a single bad result from removing the belt, and from that time have grown strong and well. I found my heritage of freedom and happiness.

During the past thirteen years I have had a number of other healings, —proofs of Immanuel, "God with us," and have found the understanding of Truth to be preventive as well as curative. During the summer of 1920 I took advantage of a splendid opportunity to visit Montana and Yellowstone Park. As it was my first trip "West, and with only a girl friend, there seemed to be a feeling of fear and apprehension of possible emergencies. Then I realized that God is everywhere; that "neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord." I knew that God was with me. We had a very wonderful, happy trip; and time after time I felt the guiding, guarding presence of infinite Mind, God.
