It is now over eighteen years since Christian Science was first brought to my notice, and I esteem it a privilege to have, through the columns of The Christian Science Journal, the opportunity of expressing my sincere gratitude for the many blessings I have received through the revelation of Truth as given to the world in the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy.
I did not begin the study with a view to physical healing, as at the moment I was not specially in need of help in that direction; but it was explained to me that sin, sickness, and discord of every kind were only false beliefs due to lack of spiritual understanding, and I at once saw that the way of salvation lay in learning the truth about God and His creation. While reading the textbook for the first time I was healed, without any special treatment, of a recurring illness of fifteen years' standing, and also of the need of wearing eyeglasses. After some years the illness spoken of presented itself on two occasions and was speedily healed through Christian Science treatment; on the second occasion, now more than ten years ago, the healing was complete; and the illness has never again recurred.
Christian Science has taught me that there is one infinite Mind, God, and has shown me how to bring thought into harmony with this divine Mind; and during those years I have had many opportunities of proving the power of divine Mind to heal not only sickness and accident, but faults of character and ali sorts of conditions in one's family, as well as social, business, and church relationships. These demonstrations of the practical value of the spiritual understanding of divine Principle prove with unassailable certainty that. Christianity, as taught in the Bible and illumined by the writings of Mrs. Eddy, is a scientific, demonstrable religion.
