The greatest blessings that have ever come to me have been the result of my study and application of Christian Science. About eleven years ago, some dear friends invited me to attend services in a Christian Science church. I have never ceased to be grateful for this message of Truth, which came at that particular time; for I now see that it was divine Love leading me out of the wilderness of fear and doubt.
At one time, for an interval of five years, we lived in a small community where Christian Science was little known or approved of. Then I learned that, truly, Mrs. Eddy was divinely guided when she ordained the Bible and "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" as our only pastor. I had the Quarterly Lessons to give me the same lessons and daily supply that I had had in the city. The privilege of attending the Christian Science Sunday School has been a blessing and protection to our children; and I consider that what they learned there has been the best part of their education. Its value cannot be overestimated.
The liberation from physical ills does not mean so much to me as the spiritual understanding, which gives a higher and broader concept of God and His creation. The study of this truth is guiding me away from the contemplation of person and personality to a much better understanding of man in the likeness of Spirit. I did not turn to Christian Science for physical healing, but because it brought a sense of peace and joy into my daily living. The first healing I experienced was of a nervous condition which had been pronounced incurable. This came through reading and studying the Lesson-Sermons and attending the church services. Other healings have been of injury resulting from an accident, headaches, grippe, and stomach trouble. Some of these have been instantaneous. In the working out of various problems there has always been a growth in wisdom. An instantaneous healing of earache, experienced by my son a few years ago, has been a great help to me, as it showed so clearly how an absolute reliance upon God meets our need immediately. The realization that he was God's child and that God's work was done, silenced all lying arguments and fear.
