Testimonies of Healing

I am deeply indebted to Christian Science

From the September 1923 issue of The Christian Science Journal

I am deeply indebted to Christian Science. Our beloved Leader assures us, in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (Pref., p. vii), that "to those leaning on the sustaining infinite, to-day is big with blessings." My greatest blessing was received about six years ago, when a copy of Science and Health was placed in my hands with the loving assurance that if I would give it careful study it would surely prove a blessing to me. I was also told at that time, "Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you." Blessing after blessing has been added since first I began "leaning on the sustaining infinite." and I have learned to rejoice in all things.

Many ills have been healed. Mastoid abscess was overcome in one week's time by absent treatment, although specialists had insisted an operation was essential for recovery, and that the outcome would be doubtful. A badly lacerated hand, which was cut deep into the fleshy part of the palm, was healed in a few days, by holding fast to the truth and declaring the '"scientific statement of being" (Science and Health, p. 468). This healing was accomplished without the aid of a practitioner; immediate help being necessary, I put what understanding I had into practice, and found ever present Love to be my sufficient remedy. All fear was eliminated, and the healing was complete. Stubbornness and resentment have been overcome. My husband has been healed of a very severe case of heart trouble, and has been restored to perfect health by the reading of Science and Health and the kind and loving assistance of friends.

For the many healings we have experienced since taking up the study of this wonderful truth, we are indeed grateful; and the spiritual uplift received has also been a source of great comfort. Christian Science came into our lives at a time when it was much needed. We were weighed down by material cares, and sought spiritual enlightenment and peace, which we have received; and our needs have been met through a right understanding of God and His law.
