Christian Science was brought to my notice seven years ago, when, broken in health and spirit, it seemed to me that my days were numbered. At that period I was physically so weak, and every condition surrounding me was so discordant, that I contemplated death as a ministering angel rather than as an enemy, as Paul calls it in I Corinthians. I accepted the pamphlets on Christian Science which were given me by a dear friend merely because I did not want to hurt her feelings, never dreaming that I should receive any benefit from them. There are no words adequate to express the God-given relief I experienced after an hour's reading. For the first time since the illness which had brought on serious pulmonary trouble, I felt real healing and hope. In less than a month I bought a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, and I have been a student of this and Mrs. Eddy's other works, together with the Bible, during the intervening years.
If it gives me pleasure to testify to the miraculous bodily healing which I received, not to mention innumerable healings brought to loved ones, it gives me even greater joy to bear grateful witness to the spiritual uplift and understanding it has given me for my every problem. To go forth to every day's task with an understanding of God's infinite plan and His loving care of us is to have attained that spiritual sense which opens the way to every good opportunity. I am hourly conscious of gratitude to our Leader for her wonderful interpretation of the great Christ, Truth, and to the many loving and loyal students of her work who have helped me to attain this light that never fails.—Brawley, Calif.
