Christian Science has blessed me in many ways. One of the first healings I experienced in Christian Science was that of eye trouble. Through reading the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, I was able to lay aside glasses. Fainting spells, car sickness, chronic headaches, and ptomaine poisoning are some of the things that have been healed for me through the application of Christian Science.
One summer morning, while taking a walk, I came upon a cluster of beautifully colored leaves. After picking some and carrying them for about half an hour, a lady came up to me with a look of surprise and said, "I beg your pardon, but do you know that that is poison ivy you are carrying?" I told her that I had not realized it, but was not afraid of it. She quickly left, and I went happily on my way knowing that God never made a law whereby man could be poisoned, and that man-made laws had no power over God's children. It was also realized that it was a sense of loving service and brotherly kindness on the part of the one who addressed me that caused her to speak. Not wishing to throw the ivy by the wayside, where some one who feared it might come in contact with it, I carried it home. A joyous gratitude for the sense of protection and care that only Christian Science can give so filled my thoughts all the way home that it left no room for fear or doubt to come in. Needless to say, no ill effects followed that experience, only more joy and gladness for another added proof of God's loving protection.
