It is with heartfelt gratitude that I take this opportunity of bearing witness to the great fact that Christian Science, when studied, understood, and applied, as set forth in the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, does heal the sick, regenerate the sinner, and lift mankind from the slough of sorrow and despair into the sunlight and joy of man's true relationship to his Father-Mother God.
For the past five years through the daily study of the Bible, Science and Health, and also the Christian Science periodicals, I have had many healings. Having been a professional nurse for many years previous to this, needless to say I had used practically every material aid in the medical world, also chiropractic adjustments; but all to no avail. In my extremity I lost all faith in God, who I believed permitted His child to suffer.
It was at this time that a kind friend gave me several copies of the Christian Science Sentinel, which I diligently read, feeling there must be something wonderful in Christian Science for it to heal as the testimonies stated. After a week or two I awoke one morning with a severe pain in the shoulder, and thought, Now I shall see what Christian Science can do. I immediately called on a practitioner living near, and was instantly healed. This dear one lent me "The Life of Mary Baker Eddy" by Sibyl Wilbur, which I read through that evening. I had misplaced the glasses which I had worn for many years at intervals, when I seemed weakened physically, and felt sure I would have the usual severe headache the next day; but I was overjoyed to find that I had been healed. I have never used glasses since. This seemed so wonderful to me that I started reading the Lesson-Sermon in the Christian Science Quarterly and attending the church services on Sunday regularly.
