"Awake thou that sleepest" was spoken to me when I was ill with nervous prostration, lying as though drugged; and I was raised up almost instantly. I was healed of what a doctor said was bronchitis in its worst form. He said it would take very fine nursing to pull me through. I trusted in the Lord's words, as understood in Christian Science, to heal me. In about six weeks I went to see the doctor, who said he had never expected to see me alive again. I have learned that God does heal and protect in all ways. I was protected from poisoning after eating some poor food. A practitioner helped me, and I kept repeating the twenty-third psalm; and I could feel God's presence with me. I was healed in four days. I have also been healed of consumption, hip trouble, fallen insteps, broken wrist, cough, colds; and I do thank the Lord for His goodness and mercy.
Maybe my experience will help someone else to know that if he trusts in God and does not fear, he will find that God does heal and protect His children, and comfort them when the way seems very dark. Before I came into Christian Science I was in very poor circumstances and poor health, with a family of six children to provide for and with very little money.
