Christian Science brought into my experience boundless joy and a certain knowledge of God, who, the Psalmist says, "is a very present help in trouble." The first real test of God's Word as a healing power came after a year's study of the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy. An attack of malaria in a severe form appeared one Sunday morning. The need for immediate assistance was apparent. My parents insisted on aid being called, leaving with me the choice of Christian Science treatment or a physician. Because of the previous working out of some business problems through the loving application of the truth by a Christian Science practitioner, I decided to try Christian Science again. Within two hours from the time a telephone message was sent for help, I was enabled to arise and dress. During more than eighteen years there has been no return of the disease or its symptoms. The outstanding feature of the healing was revealed to me as I observed the sincerity of the friend who came to give the treatment. Desiring to help, I made a desperate human effort to lift my head, which fell back limp, seeming to prove the words of Jesus, "I can of mine own self do nothing." Ten minutes later I arose. Numerous healings, of rheumatism, blood poisoning, fever, and other ailments have been brought about through some understanding of God as divine Love.
I am truly grateful for God's goodness, and for the revelation to this age of the Christ, Truth, through Mrs. Eddy's obedience to divine law. — San Antonio, Texas.
