It is over fourteen years since my eldest daughter, then a girl of twelve years, was given up by our physicians, some of whom were the best we could find in Chicago. Some said she would outgrow her trouble; others said she might linger for a while. I had spent all our money, had even borrowed money on our home, so that we might have what seemed the much-needed help. Then a friend said to me, "You have tried everything; now why don't you try Christian Science?"
My daughter had had many sicknesses, one of which was rheumatism, with dropsy setting in, from the age of four until nine. She was getting a little better when she was stricken with St. Vitus's dance. We had to feed her for months, and there were days of complete helplessness. Wherever we went, she was the object of pity, sympathy, comment.
When I took my daughter to the Christian Science practitioner's home, she had not been able to use her right hand for months, and her right leg was so stiff that she dragged it as she tried to walk. After the first treatment she used her hand, and the next day she picked up a tennis racket and made an attempt to hit a ball. From that time on she improved. The healing seemed slow, but it was complete. She is now a good-looking woman, and there never has been any return of the trouble.
