Christian Science was brought to my attention more than ten years ago when some copies of the Christian Science Sentinel were given to me. I read them as one who had always sought the truth but had thus far never found anything satisfactory. I borrowed a copy of the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, from the nearest Reading Room, about forty miles away, and while reading I noticed that I was unable to see through my glasses. I laid them aside, not knowing at the time that my eyes had been healed. Shortly afterward, I sprained my ankle severely. I read from the textbook, and experienced relief in a few minutes. In my enthusiasm I endeavored to convert my friends on a wholesale plan to this new-found panacea, and to my surprise was met with doubts on their part. I returned to the study of the Christian Science literature, and am glad that I learned early in my experience that I needed understanding as well as faith.
One healing which I experienced with the aid of a practitioner was from a very bad case of psoriasis, which resembled leprosy in its symptoms. The disease was visible, stubborn, and supposed to be hereditary. Every so-called law of mortal mind was broken down through Christian Science, and I never knew just when the healing took place. I am very grateful for the benefits that I have received from the study of Christian Science.—Alger, Michigan.
