For many years, in which I experienced ill health and morbid mental conditions, I depended on materia medica to meet my needs, but received no permanent relief. Finally, I came to the point where it was a case of "choose you this day whom ye will serve." I had been in bed for seven weeks with little hope held out to me that I would recover. One minor operation had been performed, and later the attending physician told us that as a last resort he advised a very serious operation, but that the outcome was very uncertain.
At this point, standing almost within "the valley of the shadow of death," I rebelled against a God who would allow such suffering and the separating of a mother from her babies. I knew of many people who had been healed through the study of Christian Science, so I decided to turn away from all material remedies and rely solely on God. A practitioner was called and absent treatment was begun. Within one hour I went to sleep without the aid of an opiate, something which had not occurred in many weeks. I slept for about eight hours before waking. I began to improve rapidly. The next day I was able to move myself from the bed to a chair; the third day, with a little help, I walked from the house to a carriage and enjoyed an hour's drive. One week later I made a railroad trip of twelve hours' duration and an automobile trip of fifteen miles without any harmful results. In a few weeks I was able to take over all the work of my house and the care of my children.
This healing occurred fifteen years ago, and since that time many healings have been experienced in my family. Typhoid fever, influenza, tonsillitis, sprained ankle, broken and misplaced bones, what would have been pronounced appendicitis, ptomaine poisoning, and many other ills have been met and overcome through the understanding of man's relation to God. But the spiritual uplift is by far the greatest blessing.— Dalhart, Texas.
