Testimonies of Healing

I am very grateful for the many...

From the November 1929 issue of The Christian Science Journal

I am very grateful for the many healings experienced and the spiritual understanding gained through the study of Christian Science. In July, 1925, a baby girl was born into our home. It was only natural that my wife and I should rely on Christian Science, as we had both been brought up to do so.

About a month later we were faced with what seemed to be a perplexing problem. The concern which I was then associated with failed, leaving me in a limited financial condition. The only position that was available in my line of work would make it necessary for me to leave my family and live in another city. About the time I had decided to accept this position, another offer was made to me in a line that I was not familiar with. Although it meant harder work, I accepted the local offer. Together with this unsettled business condition there seemed to be a problem of malnutrition with the baby. We called a practitioner, who lovingly took up the work. We experienced a beautiful healing, and it was through our sincere gratitude that we began to reach out for a better understanding of Christian Science. Prior to this time neither my wife nor I had made much effort to further the Cause of Christian Science, because we had not been awake to the wonderful opportunities of church activities. Here the practitioner showed us how we could express our appreciation for Christian Science, so we began to study for church membership.

Membership in The Mother Church and also a branch church was another experience for which I am exceedingly grateful. It was later our privilege to be able to help in the formation of a branch church, in accordance with the Manual of The Mother Church. The spiritual growth that was gained through this work has helped me to solve several business problems and to overcome a sense of limitation. I have learned not to criticize, nor to personalize evil, but to see man as God's idea, perfect and free, governed by the divine Mind alone.—
