Although I did not come to Christian Science for physical healing, it is with deep gratitude that I testify to its efficacy to heal nervous trouble, indigestion, severe headaches, influenza, burns, and sprained ankles and wrists. This unfailing truth has been my only physician for over nineteen years, and the above mentioned difficulties have been healed permanently.
From the time I was a child I had read the Scriptures and books on Bible history, seeking for something, but I knew not what. While visiting in Pittsburg, I was invited to attend a Christian Science Wednesday evening testimony meeting. The wonderful testimonies I heard convinced me that these people understood something about God and Christ Jesus' works. I had faith in their testimonies, never even questioning their statements. The thought came to me that night that there was a way to heal the sick as Jesus had healed them, and also a way to redeem the sinner. I was a member of an orthodox church at that time, but felt no desire to attend it again. I was healed completely and permanently.
Shortly after returning to my home I borrowed a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy from a public library. I became very much interested in the chapter on Prayer, and memorized the spiritual interpretation of the Lord's Prayer as given on pages 16 and 17, since I desired to be obedient and thereafter to include the interpretation when offering this prayer. I cannot express in words the peace of mind and sincere gratitude that I felt when I learned this. The words, "Our Father-Mother God, all-harmonious," gradually unfolded to me my true relationship to God.
