LARGE numbers of people were attracted to Christ Jesus on many occasions: the Gospels state that "multitudes" or "great multitudes" pressed upon him for healing.
The rapid growth and prosperity of Christian Science indicate that it, likewise, is attracting the multitudes. Its Discoverer and Founder, Mary Baker Eddy, made many comments on this growth. One of these may be found on page 14 of her Message to The Mother Church for 1902, where she says, "The remarkable growth and prosperity of Christian Science are its legitimate fruit."
Such growth and prosperity not only allay questions and doubts as to whether Christian Science churches have a right to grow and prosper, but also point to such outward manifestation as a certain gauge of its right activity. Moreover, they lead faithful church members to inquire, frequently and deeply, into the status of their church work, bringing them face to face with questions as to whether they are helping their churches to grow for the same reasons that made the multitudes throng Jesus.
