Testimonies of Healing

I wish to express my gratitude for...

From the December 1930 issue of The Christian Science Journal

I wish to express my gratitude for Christian Science. When I first began this study, twelve years ago, my thoughts were full of criticism against Christian Science, although I knew nothing about it, except through hearsay. But very gradually this wonderful truth has been revealed to me, and it now means more than I can find words to express.

When our youngest child was born we had proof that God is "a very present help." We had no trouble in reaching a practitioner by telephone, but as it was February and the roads were very bad, by the time a doctor arrived the baby was six hours old. This birth was very different from the birth of my first child, and I shall never cease to be grateful. I studied faithfully the fifteenth verse of the ninety-first psalm. This boy has always been a very healthy child. He is now ten years old, and has never tasted medicine. At different times both children have been protected from contagion, and not long ago the younger boy was healed of a breaking out on his face and body.

On one occasion, our elder boy, then twelve, seemed very ill for several days, although a practitioner had been working faithfully for him. He had not cared to eat or be active, but one morning he asked for food and ate well, and seemed very much improved. Then in an hour or so he learned that his father and brother had gone for a walk half a mile away. He expressed a desire to be with them and asked for his clothes. At first I was full of fear, as that morning was the first he had sat up in bed. The thought came to me, "Loose him, and let him go," and I did so to the best of my ability. I helped him dress, and he went out, took his bicycle, and rode the distance to where they were. While he went somewhat unsteadily, he seemed free and happy. It was very warm weather, so he rested a while before they all returned; then he rested again, but he did not go back to bed. It was wonderful.
