Testimonies of Healing

For about twenty-four years...

From the August 1930 issue of The Christian Science Journal

For about twenty-four years Christian Science has been a constant help to me. It has met my every need, so that in all that time I have never turned to any material aid to solve my problems. Sometimes the way has seemed rugged, and has tried my faith and patience; but always at such times loving help has been received from a faithful practitioner, and victory gained.

When about six months old my daughter was healed of most stubborn constipation, which had baffled two eminent child specialists. She was also healed of enlarged tonsils and adenoids. This healing was slow, and often almost overpowering discouragement overtook me. The suffering from the tonsils and the difficulty in breathing from the adenoids caused her to be undersized, underweight, and subnormal. Persistent, constant reliance on the power of God to heal was held to, until after about two years every trace of the trouble disappeared, and she became strong, healthy, and a wonderful specimen of blooming health. Both of these healings occurred over ten years ago, without the slightest return.

I have had so many benefits that it is difficult to choose which to tell. Covering a period of over ten years, my face and part of my body were covered with an unsightly and humiliating skin disease. Many eminent specialists were visited and I was under almost constant treatment during these years. My early girlhood was most unhappy and depressed, as I was constantly aware of being different from other people and unpleasant to look at. Christian Science completely healed me, but not until I understood in part the truth it teaches and lived it. I have also been healed of appendicitis and many other physical troubles, for which I am indeed grateful; but one of the greatest benefits I have received is the ability to turn to divine Mind for guidance at all times, feeling that I can rely on being directed correctly if I only ask to be guided, and then listen.
