It is over thirty years since my first healing in Christian Science.
I had suffered for several weeks from eye trouble which oculists did not cure or glasses correct. One morning, after a night of pain, I called up a Christian Science practitioner whom I knew, to ask if she could help me. As I left the telephone I saw my Bible, which I had not read much of late, lying on the table. I opened it and read, "And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; they shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover." My healing came instantaneously. The pain left, the eyelids lifted, and I knew that God had healed me.
I then began the study of the Lesson-Sermons, for I wanted to know the God who is an ever present help, that Truth which is applicable to all our needs, and the Love which had brought to me such peace and joy. I rejoice that the Bible, together with our textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, has led me into an understanding of Him, and that I am able to prove somewhat the power of Truth in the overcoming of sickness and sin.
