Testimonies of Healing

It is with a deep sense of gratitude...

From the August 1930 issue of The Christian Science Journal

It is with a deep sense of gratitude that I give this testimony of a healing through Christian Science. I had suffered about seventeen years from concussion and a double fracture at the base of the spine caused by a fall, and was partly paralyzed. This was followed by a complication of ailments—such as nervous prostration, mental depression, and many other ills.

The best medical aid was employed, including a specialist in spinal diseases. At this time I was pronounced beyond human aid. Then came the testing time of my life. God had always been mysterious to me, for my prayers were unanswered, and I could think of only one thing more to do, namely, to try Christian Science; and through the aid of a loving practitioner I was healed instantly of bodily suffering. A sense of peace flooded my consciousness as God was revealed to me. I grew strong and happy, and my heart was filled with a desire to help others, for I felt that only by so doing could I pay my debt of gratitude to God. Just recently Christian Science sustained me in what seemed to be the greatest trial of my life—the passing on of my dear husband. It is comforting that we were united in our love for the Cause of Christian Science. In "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" Mrs. Eddy says (p. 292): "Truth will be to us 'the resurrection and the life' only as it destroys all error and the belief that Mind, the only immortality of man, can be fettered by the body, and Life be controlled by death."

I am deeply grateful for the understanding of God, for membership in The Mother Church and in a branch church, for class instruction, and for the privilege of teaching in the Sunday school. I am grateful for the good which Christian Science is doing for the salvation of mankind. —
