I have many reasons to be grateful for Christian Science. I took up the study over seven years ago; and from that day I have relied wholly on Christian Science, and it has met my every need. Previously, I was never without medicine. I have been healed of several chronic ailments: of chilblains of twenty-five years' standing, of a bronchial cough which I had every winter, and also of intestinal trouble. My healings came through the study of the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, in connection with the Bible. Jesus said, "If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; and ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free;" and, "Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you." Through faithfully following Mrs. Eddy's teachings, I am finding the kingdom.
Over five years ago I had an experience which was a proof of God's allness and presence. One night, as I started to walk across the back porch, I walked into an open cellarway. My son heard me roll down the steps, and found me lying unconscious in the cellar. As he carried me up the steps I regained consciousness, and my first thought was, "God is love," and I kept repeating it aloud. That sweet peace—"Be still, and know"—came over me. My son was very much frightened, as my face was bruised, but I told him I was all right. He called a Christian Science practitioner, and I stepped to the telephone and told her what had happened. As I went to use the telephone I noticed that my right hand was wrenched and my wrist sprained, but all the time I kept looking away from self and knowing God's allness. In a week my wrist and hand were all right. I was very grateful for that experience.
My two children also have had many healings. We have been wonderfully protected from time to time during epidemics. Neither of my children has had any contagious disease except measles. They are both grown up now. To relate the many blessings, healings, and helpful experiences we have had, would fill a book.
