Testimonies of Healing

It is time for me to show my gratitude...

From the January 1932 issue of The Christian Science Journal

It is time for me to show my gratitude to Christian Science for the healings and comfort I have received during a period of seven years and a half. It would take too long to tell them all, but of the first experience, which led me into this wonderful truth, I should like to write. It was in 1924 that I was going to doctors for conditions which seemed unbearable. I had consented to undergo a serious operation, the specialist stating that it was the only remedy. I had been under X-ray treatments. After the last one I had been obliged to rest for a couple of hours, and then to call a taxi to take me home. My neighbor had mentioned Christian Science to me, and when she saw me being helped to my home, she came with "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, and asked me to read it. I did so, and my sons decided with me to see what Christian Science could do. I had to ask the doctor to cancel my room at the hospital, and the day that I had intended going there I went to a Christian Science practitioner. Only those who have been down to the depths can understand the blessing it is to receive a healing instantaneously. I do not know whether it was minutes or hours that I was there, but I do know that when I left I had let all my burdens fall. I did not feel the ground under my feet; all I knew was that I was healed.

For six months I was in a new world; but other troubles came, and I had to learn the way was not always easy. I had to learn how to live so that I could be prepared to depend on my own understanding with the help of Mrs. Eddy's writings and the periodicals. I have had many instances of protection and other healings, including that of grief at the tragic death of a loved brother. With the prolonged healings come many opportunities to study more in order to overcome faults of character. I have been blessed in giving help to others. But there is still a lot to be learned.

I am very grateful for membership in The Mother Church and a branch church.—
