"THE ETERNAL GOD IS THY REFUGE"

From the January 1932 issue of The Christian Science Journal

I will rejoice and sing, for God looks down
And smiles on me. What though the whole world frown?
I will rejoice again, for God can see
The humble heart of ceaseless prayer in me.

The world may scoff, and men may seem unkind,
And mock my new-found joy—I do not mind,
For I have found a refuge in the Lord;
I feel His presence in each sacred word.

No man can take this Love-sent joy from me,
Nor can aught rob me of God's clemency.
I will not listen to the tempter's voice
That bids me sorrow when I may rejoice.

I find God in a thousand different ways,
In peaceful nights and busy, work-filled days;
And I have found He is divinely near,
His everlasting arms surround me here.
