Christian Science has been such a great blessing in my life that only by consecrating the best in me to helping others see the truth can I ever repay in a measure all I have gained through its tender ministrations. Like countless others I too appreciate this privilege of joining the Psalmist in saying, "I will praise thee, O Lord, with my whole heart; I will shew forth all thy marvellous works."
My first visit to a Christian Science church, in 1916. found me very much confused, as I had at an early age busied myself studying, and endeavoring to understand, several religions and materialistic systems, with the result that in addition to being poverty-stricken, lazy, sick in body and mind, I was filled with theories which failed to prove efficacious in my distress. Doctors had pronounced me anæemic, undernourished, underweight, and neurasthenic.
Reading "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, and attending a few church services delivered me from this bondage to a great extent and fortified me sufficiently to gain a better view of life. By degrees my improved thinking eliminated entirely such physical conditions as chronic constipation, hemorrhoids, nausea, indigestion, sties, boils, and pimples. I also discontinued electrical treatments for severe internal congestion, which I had been taking for nine months, but which did not seem to help me. In fact, the condition was growing worse, and at times I could not sit down and could hardly walk.
