For some time I have felt a great desire to give testimony to the healing power of Christian Science. To my knowledge I am the only Scientist in this Territory. This country is said to be very unhealthy, and quinine is considered a daily necessity. I have not taken a grain of quinine during my over two years' residence here. An attack of dengue fever was overcome within a few hours, despite the fact that the hospital was full of dengue fever patients.
While playing tennis I severely twisted my ankle. At first I was in too great pain to help myself, and then I realized the truth of Mrs. Eddy's statement in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 113) that "there is no pain in Truth, and no truth in pain." Within five minutes I was continuing the game, and by next morning every vestige of pain had left me.
For the overcoming of the false sense of fear and loneliness I am truly grateful. For the great help I receive from the articles and testimonies in the Journal and the Sentinel I am also very grateful. These periodicals, together with the Bible and Science and Health, are my only helps in the overcoming of all discordant conditions. — Rabaul, New Britain, New Guinea
