FATHER, I THANK THEE

From the September 1932 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Father, I thank Thee for the cleansing fires
Whose fervent heat consumes all wrong desires.
The flames to sense may grievous seem to be,
But in their wake are strength and purity.

Father, I thank Thee that all human will
Must yield obedience to Thy "Peace, be still,"
And that the will of God adored shall be
By all creation, through eternity.
