When Elisha healed Naaman of his leprosy, it is recorded in the Bible that "his flesh came again like unto the flesh of a little child." This passage of Scripture stands out to me through a proof of God's power to heal today as in the earlier centuries. Some time ago I was healed of erysipelas through the loving ministrations of Christian Science. Parts of the flesh and skin began to fall away on my face and other parts of my body that were affected; but when the healing came and I was restored to my normal self there was not a spot or blemish in evidence, and the above Scripture was again proved to be a present reality. A favorite hymn in our Hymnal and also a passage from "Miscellaneous Writings" by Mary Baker Eddy (p. 277), "No evidence before the material senses can close my eyes to the scientific proof that God, good, is supreme," gave me much courage and hope through this trial. I can never be grateful enough for this healing and for the faithful work of the practitioner, as well as the loyalty and steadfastness to Truth displayed by the nurses who attended me at this time. This experience will always be a source of inspiration to me.
I accepted Christian Science after the healing of my mother, who had been in the care of physicians and surgeons for nearly a year, and who was finally told that she could not live over two or three weeks longer. At this time she asked for Christian Science treatment and the work was taken up by a practitioner. She had not partaken of any food, except liquids, for months, and had been informed that the organs of the stomach could never function properly again.
All these false material laws were broken down one by one, as their unreality was exposed by the light of Christian Science. She was also healed of heart trouble and of taking large doses of digitalis. A very severe nervous trouble was overcome; at times she could not endure the noise of washing dishes or walking in the room, and the family spoke in whispers. Today my mother is a living witness to the truth and healing power of divine Science, and is enjoying health and the normal activities of life.
